Exmoor Owl and Hawk Centre is situated within Exmoor National Park, just one mile from Porlock. This delightful village has recently been awarded best Somerset village for 2009. Here you can find places to eat, such as The Ship Inn on the High Street, situated opposite the Porlock Visitor Centre, where you can find out everything you need to know about the local area. If you wish for a meal to mark a special occasion we recommend Mullions Restaurant, Minehead, renowned throughout the area for their extensive use of fresh local produce, creating wonderful home cooked meals, served by friendly staff in a warm,relaxed and intimate atmosphere, or Andrews on the Weir, Porlock Weir.

We are situated within the National Trust Holnicote Estate, a stunning estate given to the National Trust by the Acland family in 1944. Our farmhouse, built in 1456, was part of this estate, and we are surrounded by endless riding and walking countryside. If you stay with us you will never tire of the beautiful spots within walking distance of our farmhouse, and will long to return once you have left!

There are plenty of visitor attractions within short driving distance such as: Animal Farm Adventure Park is set on 23 acres of farm land in the beautiful Somerset countryside; Bristol Zoo where you can spend a fun- acked day with over 400 amazing species from lions to love beetles; with most of the exhibits under cover, you can enjoy your visit whatever the weather; Dunster Castle with its romantic turrets and towers, remodelled in the 19th century, but an important fortress for over 1,000 years, on a dramatic hilltop location with sweeping views over Exmoor and the Bristol Channel, terraced gardens with sub-tropical plants, home to the National Collection of strawberry trees!

North Devon hosts the Milky Way Adventure Theme Park, in North Devon - a great day out in Devon for all the family; Exmoor Zoo is a unique and an unusual zoo to visit with birds, mammals, monkeys and lemurs;Tropiquaria, situated on your way into Minehead from the M5, exhibits an unusual mixture of reptiles, monkeys and other creatures;the Cobbaton Combat Centre - a Military museum covering most of World War II;Some distance away you can visit the Eden Project - Walk down into Eden and travel the world in a day; from the rainforests to the warm Mediterranean.

If you are looking for something a little more exciting, or full of activity, then try some of the local activity providers - Discovery Safaris offers exciting wildlife Safaris on Exmoor in a purpose fitted Landrover; you can try Fly Fishing on Exmoor with Nick Hart - a great day out for all levels of fishermen! or one of the Stuart Line Cruises   Discover the History, Beauty and Wildlife of the north Devon Coast; the Gnome Reserve where you can visit one of North Devon 's family run attractions a fun day out for the whole family. Closer to home you will find the Minehead Golf Course  Founded in 1882, Minehead and West Somerset is the second oldest club in Somerset.

There is plenty of local alternative accommodation, and the area offers some excellent hotels, Overstream Hotel, or The Dunkery Beacon Country House with stunning views over Exmoor National Park. Nearby in Dunster the Yarn Market Hotel offers accommodation for groups and families. The Crown Hotel, Exford, is a 17th century family run hotel, offering dog friendly accommodation. West Ilkerton Farm is a secluded hill farm offering self catering accommodation set in the beautiful countryside of Exmoor National Park and Highcliffe House, Lynton & Lynmouth, is an award winning Exmoor guest house offering B&B in the Boutique Hotel style, overlooking Lynton & Lynmouth in Devon.
