ROE DEER, RED DEER AND FALLOW DEER on Exmoor
Badgers live all around us - they snuffle around the fields, they visit the Owl Garden, and they torment the dogs at night! However, these much loved animals are very secretive and we are seldom able to see them - as it is with many other nocturnal animals, such as hedgehogs, bats, owls and foxes! If you are a badger lover then we highly recommend watching these beautiful creatures at Devon Badger Watching at Cove.
BATS AROUND US
Here we are blessed with zero light pollution, much to the horror of some of our urban dwellers, as there are no outdoor lights in this area. We live in the world's first Dark Sky Reserve, and on a clear night you cannot find a better viewing of the night skies. You can hire telescopes in the area, and you can even have your own professional star gazing expert to give you a far greater understanding of our night skies.
FLYING OWLS & OTHER BIRDS OF PREY
Here at Exmoor Owl & Hawk Centre you have the opportunity of getting really close to a number of owls and birds of prey, many of them British and indigenous to the local area. However, if you catch sight of elusive wild merlin or short eared owl over the moors in the Spring you will have one of the highlights of your holiday! We can offer buzzard, barn owl, tawny owl to fly to your fist here at the Centre, but we too are enthralled by spotting the occasional wild bird such as these or the elusive Red Kite that are found 'off course' at certain times of the year.
Sea fishing off Bossington Beach is very popular at the correct tides and times - Sea Angler provides some very good information about the catch and conditions you will find whilst fishing in this idyllic spot!
